Will-George Pottery, established by the two Climes brothers in 1934, is best known for their bird/animal figurines, and this elegant parrot vase is a perfect example of their dedicated craftsmanship.
What one notices at first is the incredible glossy glaze. Next comes the intense detail to the bird itself, the folds of it bare facial skin, its feathers and that stunning long tail.
Perched upon short branch, the balanced base shifts to the left where two openings await small floral arrangements. There is a third opening just below the bird's wing, perfect for a rainforest palm frond.
Origin: Pasadena, California; pre-owned
Dimensions: 14 1/8"H x 7"W (est-beak to base)
Condition: Great. There are no chips, cracks, stains, crazing, or wear. The colors are brilliant and the glaze is intact and very shiny. A gorgeous piece.
