In 1925 a few Staffordshire potteries agreed to use a mail forwarding service, the British Commercial Monomarks and marked their wares with the letters B.C.M followed by an identification code; in the case of this collection, this set is marked B.C.M./Tuscan specifically for early 20th century New York retailer W.H. Plummer and Company.
Along with Tuscan are four sturdy earthenware teacup saucers by Stoke-on-Trent, England manufacturer, Regal Pottery (1925 to 1931). The well of the saucers is a bit oversized and the trim edging is a mint green, but as the Indian Tree pattern is the same, the pairing works nicely as a cup/saucer set, independent of the snack plate. A very nice addition to vintage/ antique collections.
