An ultra bright white glossy background is hand painted in dotted, rustic and floral detail while an over glazed vivid teal motif dominates this sturdy pair. The unique split handle, in particular, is an amazing part of the cup with its three part claw-like detail.
Origin: France; pre-owned; 1860-1919
Dimensions: Cup- 1 3/4"H x 3 1/2"W opening
Condition: Great. Minor roughness from shelf use to the cup base rim. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or stains. Very minor areas of light wear to the cup and saucer rims. There are some areas of light pepper spots to the cup and saucer white areas, and the saucer well has an irregularity to the well trim; all from production. Though not a flaw we noted the saucer well was somewhat larger than the cup rim; we don't know if this is how all sets were produced.
Overall this is an antique and the pair have maintained a lovely presentation. The design is intact and the colors are vivid. The white background is bright and clean.
