Two amazing American glass companies, one incredible piece.
Renamed as the Viking Glass Company in 1944, New Martinsville Glass Manufacturing Company's "Radiance" pattern (1936-1939) was paired with Viking's glorious "Prelude" etch (c. 1948-1986) of wild flowers and scrolled vines surrounding a medallion of lofty, upswept leaf branches.
The beautifully unique Radiance pattern is an eye catching, polished piece with its three mold-lined, bulbous base, partitioned by braid-like detail, a rippled waist and a flared top with an eight-point crimped rim, a perfect rest for flower stems. Hold it to the light and watch the lacy etching come to life. Such a fine testament to American glass design and etching. Gorgeous.
