This collectible, ultra-adorable mid-century Blue Bird by Lefton brings instant rosy cheer to all who come in contact with its bright eyes.
Founded by George Zolton Lefton in 1940-41, the Chicago-based Lefton China Company's BlueBird Collection, imported from Japan between 1950-1971, was designed to "Brighten Everyday Dining" and this pastel blue, yellow and pink cookie jar certainly answers the call.
To the jar underside is the "Geo. Z. Lefton", with a (c) over it, mark used between 1950-1955, along with the red and gold Lefton’s Reg U.S. Pat. Off. Exclusives. Japan foil label, used from 1953 to c.1971.
Origin: Japan; item #289; Pre-owned
Dimensions: 7 1/2"L x 6 7/8"W
Condition: Great. There are no chips, cracks, stains, crazing or wear. We noted some spots of missing blue paint to the left wing tip and wing itself, something that does not, in any way, distract from the charm of the jar. The base interior has very, very tiny paint specks within the glaze, from production.
