Noritake Christmas Ball #175 Hand Painted Porcelain Cup and Saucer Sets For Six. c.1918-1991.

Produced from 1906 to 1991, Noritake's most opulent pattern, considered one of the most beautiful ever made, is generally known as design number 43061, 16034 or 175, and has been long admired for its hand-painted 24Kt gold enameled border detail.

Noritake's quality porcelain presents a bright white center and a light yellow, hand-tinted border, a subtle base for the elegance of gold gilt beaded rims, raised scrolls, floral bulbs, and its crowning glory, interpreted as the ornamental "Christmas Ball".

Four of the cups have the gold "175" mark, c. 1935-1991. Two of the cups have the green #16034 mark (1918-1930). Two saucers have the gold mark, and the other four are unmarked but believed to be very early issues.

Condition: Very Good. Some light gold loss to the saucer center verge lines and the rim side edge; use marks (no deep/abuse marks) are noted to the saucer wells. Light spotted gold loss is seen to some saucer handles, along with two black specks seen to one cup interior and underside, from production. 

The border detail is overall intact.

As these sets are hand-painted there are very few signs of paint drips or unevenness to the yellow band, common to this pattern. A light yellow smudge is noted to the interior rim of one cup.

There are no chips, cracks, crazing, and the glaze is polished.
