Black Knight Selb Bavaria Floral, Yellow Scroll and Medallion Ivory 79-Piece Dinnerware Collection for Nine, Including Eleven Luncheon Plates. 1925-1941

Yellow, illustrated baroque scrolls spread and swoop around dramatically vivid black and brown medallions, delicately dotted in pearl-like fashion to frame softened hand-painted pink and yellow roses. Light, frail swags, with a glimmer of light green leaves, hang and sway with dreamy roses to complete the romantically scalloped border, trimmed in a lightly polished gold.  

To the center of this unusually lightweight fine china is a circle of swags and roses, as if holding hands, encircling a simple, charming bouquet of three roses.

From 1925 to 1941 New York City-based Graham and Zenger imported and sold German china under the registered Black Knight mark.

Manufactured in Selb, Bavaria, which produced high quality porcelain ware from names such as Hutschenreuther, Rosenthal, and Heinrich and Co., the true maker of this collection, while distinguished, is unknown.

This 79-piece dinnerware collection for nine is unique, not only for its incredible design, but because it also comes with luncheon plates (not seen in main photo) , perfect for extra guests, light eaters, or special afternoon events.

Condition: Great. There are no chips, cracks, stains, or crazing. We noted a slight unevenness to the sugar bowl lid when setting down.  This collection is over 80 years-old and it is in an amazing pre-owned state. There are very light use marks scattered throughout; we received this set with aged foam sheets between each piece and it appears the set was used a few times and was permanently stored for years.

The gold trim and handle detail is clean, polished, and intact with light discoloration to the gold consistent with age. 

The pattern is sharp with no wear and the colors are beautifully vivid with no loss. A beautiful collection.
