Produced from 1906 to 1991, Noritake's most opulent pattern, considered one of the most beautiful ever made, is generally known as design number 43061, 16034 or 175, and has been long admired for its hand-painted 24Kt gold enameled border detail.

Noritake's quality porcelain presents a bright white center and a light yellow, hand-tinted border, a subtle base for the elegance of gold gilt beaded rims, raised scrolls, floral bulbs, and its crowning glory, interpreted as the ornamental "Christmas Ball".

This Christmas Ball Large 17" Sandwich Tray makes an elegant presentation piece for sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, crackers, or as a part of your Holiday table for vegetables, sliced meats, chicken or fish servings. A well-made, near antique beauty from one of the most esteemed china manufacturers.

Origin: Japan; pre-owned

Dimensions:  17 1/4"L x 6 1/2"W x 3/4"H

The sandwich tray has the green Noritake "Morimura" mark (1918-1930).

Condition: Great. There is some age-related gold loss to the rim side edges; very light, few spots of gold wear to the handle (generally intact). One tiny, pin-head black spec (from production) is noted in the white center, near the gold border. Light use marks to the white center are noted under direct light.

This piece is hand painted. The yellow border band shows signs of light drip marks, which is common to this pattern, One faint, 1/2 thread of gold paint is noted beneath the glaze. A one-inch spot of gold overpaint is seen to the underside rim.

The raised border floral and scroll gold detail is intact, polished and bright. The tray is clean with no chips, cracks, stains, crazing, and the glaze is polished. A lovely piece.
