Spode England Friendship Blue and White Open Book Paperweight

Spode designed this poetic old fashioned-styled paperweight with the following,"However poor, however rich, on this you may depend. The kind, the generous, the good will never want a friend". 

An open book settles on two pages of blue and oval cameos, bordered by floral garlands that frame both a serene garden and a poem. The sides of the book are detailed with page lines and a clever lighting effect. On the backside of the paperweight is a blue plastic cap that unscrews to allow for sand pouring.

A lovely gift of genuine words for a friend, easy to place anywhere, especially on a busy working desk-right where it inspires.

Condition: Excellent. There are no chips, cracks, stains, crazing, or wear. The design is clear and bright and the glaze is shiny and intact.
