Depicted in this genuine hand engraved Blue Willow design is the legendary Chinese fable of two lovers who would profess their love for each other beneath a willow tree. As the girl was of wealth and the young man a commoner, her father forbade the alliance. While attempting to elope, the couple was chased by the father, only to die. The Gods, upon seeing this transform the lovers into two doves, facing each other, forever united.

Beautifully made it is no wonder Johnson Brothers was selected by royalty for their excellence in ceramics.
