Abraham Lincoln Brass Plated Lincoln Memorial Statue Bookend Set of Two.

These VERY HEAVY bookends, made by the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company, were originally cast from metal molds and given a brass finish. 

Reproduced from the Daniel Chester French sculpture in Washington, D.C., a stern-faced, pensive brass Lincoln looks down from a black lacquered ceremonial chair, a formed flag draped over the back, as roman emblems of authority are displayed to the front of chair beneath the overhanging hands. 

Your books will stand securely. Weighing seven pounds each, these historical nods to the American Presidency will add a commanding presence wherever placed. Perfect for any student of law or history.

Condition: Very Good. There is some finish loss throughout, but regardless of the loss, the underside metal and brass are nicely polished. There is no rust. One of the Lincoln figures is lightly loose in the seat. This can easily be tightened from the underside but we could not risk removing the underside felt.

The black Memorial chair has some rubbing to the back which shows copper-like spots. Beautiful and well made.
