Retro 1950's Avocado Green Fancy Cat Cookie Jar by Doranne of California.

How can you not instantly fall in love with this happy and dandy cat? 

Made by Los Angeles based Doranne of California Pottery during the 1950's this vintage, hi-gloss,avocado green cookie jar displays a jolly cat prepping his bow tie while his suspenders stretch over (don't pop!)  a wide belly that could definitely use a longer jacket. And those green eyes! Cute as a kitten.

Dimensions: 13 1/2"H x 8 1/2"W (est) x 9"D

Condition: Great. Hidden beneath the heavy gloss we spotted age-related crazing which is commonly seen in vintage ceramics, light between the ears and generalized around the base. It is not seen unless the jar is held to a direct light, and to the naked eye the cat appears flawless.

We also spotted a small pin head sized nick (see last photo) to the inside rim of the base.

Overall this is a wonderful collectible of original mid century American kitchen decor. It is clean and bright and has incredible appeal.
