A dramatic maroon, olive green, and ivory, lightly glazed, is covered in gold opulence with fan, swirl, wreath, and floral filigree and gold gilt handles.
Manufactured by the porcelain factory of Oscar Schlegelmilch (1891-1971), located in the town of Langewiessen, Germany, each of the 18 pieces is dominated by vivid and smooth, gilt framed cameo portraits, along with eye catching diamond shape olive green detail. And what stunning, ornate demitasse cups!
Origin: Germany; 1900-1957; pre-owned
1 Coffee Pot-9 1/2"H x 7 3/4"W (spout to handle)
1 Sugar Bowl- 4 1/2"H x 6"W (handle to handle)
1 Creamer- 5 1/8"H x 5 1/2"W (spout to handle)
7 Demitasse Cups-1 1/8"H x 2 3/4"W
7 Saucers- 4 1/4"W
Condition: Good/ Very Good. There is wear consistent with age to all the demitasse cup handle undersides, the right sugar bowl handle and lid handle, the creamer handle, and the coffee pot lid handle. A small smoothed surface chip to the sugar bowl lid's inside flange underside is noted.
We noticed very light gold loss in a small area to the gold trim ring around the well of four saucers, and to a small area of filigree to two. All saucers have some gold trim wear to the edges.
The colors are vivid and intact. The portrait cameos are vivid, fresh, and free of wear. The gold filigree is generally intact (see above) and has retained its polish. Just to note, some dark maroon spotting, beneath the glaze and perhaps from manufacturing is seen to the backside of the spout.
Other than what is noted, each piece is clean and free of cracks, chips (see above), stains, crazing, or repairs.
