A country covered bridge scene- in classic Johnson Brothers transferware style- decorates this large scalloped ivory/cream bowl, so beautiful to touch!
A beaded edge takes the cake as you zip your fingers around with delight, then to the inside where they bounce off the hills of its scalloped mold, drawing contrasting depths of light toward the center medallion.
To the exterior are more medallions and a Victorian-styled engraved border of leaves and flowers, some colored in green and yellow. The footed base repeats the hand applied transferware which we noted is just slightly uneven, yet which adds old-world charm.
The underside to this bowl has the " England 1883" back stamp.
