A stunning jaw dropper.
Electric bronze with hints of purple blends into a aquamarine/ cobalt blue and then reverses back into a bronze/purple mix of raised grapes, leaves, and vine.
This ruffle-shaped Fenton bowl is even more outstanding turned upside down. The ruffles fling outward in a skirted fashion while the golden grape pattern pops out against a multicolored background. What splendor.
The Imperial Glass Company graced American homes with high quality designs from 1901 until its closing in 1985. Many of its Carnival moulds, like the Imperial Grape pattern, were purchased by other glass manufacturers such as Fenton. This bowl is thus marked with a unique Fenton "F" in a vertical oval, in addition to the Fenton white label.
That two prestigious and collectible carnival glass names are related to this piece is a wondrous testament to great American art glass making.
